*EDIT*
An article I found after scouring a message board

So, something is finally happening
[link]It seems there is a Class Action Lawsuit against EA for the use of the DRM on Spore. I hope that this shows the stupidity of the DRM they are using and this Lawsuit gets my support.

Well... I have been sick for a few days, that set my plans back quite a bit on terms of here and wont be able to finish for the deadline that I set so I will have to go over it now... T_T
I am very sure you have all heard of SPORE, the latest sandbox game released by Maxis/EA Games. It is a good game, the creators give you virtually infinite ways to create something and is a mostly powerful tool.
Although if you have been following the game since 2005 then you would know that lots of content have been removed and most of the stages dumbed down.
But I am sure you heard all of the praising of Spore. The bad sides starts to come from EA's new deployment of DRM methods used in Spore and to be used in all of their future games.
Not many would unfortunately know is that most of EA's recent titles uses a DRM called secuROM. Some may or may not have heard of it but the jist of it is installed on your computer without your knowledge or your willing, it has higher access rights than the Administrator or at worst case scenario, it can decrease performance of hardware or ruin it.
Although I have never had problems with secuROM on my PC, the new feature that they are using which limits the activations that you get on a limited amount of "computers"
The basic idea on this is to allow you to install a game on your computer a practically limitless amount of times, but will use up an activation if installed on a "new" computer or if you have different hardware settings since the activation last had it recorded as.
This shit here has pretty much drawn the line for me. To learn that EA is going to such measures is absurd.
When I use my own money to purchase a game, I expect to be able to fucking install it as many times as I damn please. I shouldn't have to call EA to beg them to allow me to install a game that I purchased from them to be activated.
If they were going to implement this bullshit then they should have the decency to reduce the prices on their games.
Of course, a general PC user wouldn't have the need to activate again in a period of around 6 months to a year, but they can't be accountable for computer failures, OS failures and/or malicious program attacks. Any one of those will cost you an activation.
I was close to getting Crysis Warhead on Steam earlier until I found out that it still uses this DRM. I expected that the Steam version wouldn't have it because the game is linked to your account but it limits the activations on there too.
So I am going to pretty much boycott buying EA games until they decide to stop treating their customers like shit. Shame too because I have been a long follower of a few of their series (The Sims (2), Need for Speed, Crysis, Command and Conquer).
One thing I found hilarious is if you check up on Spore on Amazon, you will find it has 1 1/2 stars out of 5 and about 2000 of those reviews are 1 stars, ranting on about the DRM that Spore uses. The same thing is starting to happen with Crysis Warhead.
